This guide explains how to complete the Snap and Salvage quest in Arc Raiders, including the fastest drop routes for the required parts. You need to collect a Snap Module and a Salvage Core from specific loot containers in the Open Beta map, and this walkthrough shows you the most efficient paths to get both in a single run.
Quest Overview: What Snap and Salvage Actually Requires
Snap and Salvage is a mid-game side quest given by the vendor Kestrel in the main hub. The objective reads: “Recover a Snap Module and a Salvage Core from the Exclusion Zone.” These are not random drops — they spawn in specific types of loot containers at fixed locations. The quest rewards 1,500 XP and a random blue-tier weapon blueprint, so it is worth doing early for the blueprint unlock.
Key facts to know before you drop:
- The Snap Module spawns in medical crates (white boxes with a red cross) found in the Abandoned Clinic area.
- The Salvage Core spawns in toolboxes (orange metal boxes) found in the Scrapyard area.
- Both items are guaranteed spawns — they are always in the same container, but the container’s exact position rotates between two or three spots within the area.
- You do not need to extract with the items; they are automatically added to your quest progress when you pick them up. However, if you die before picking them up, you lose them and must restart.
- The quest can be completed in a single raid if you plan your route, but it is also fine to do it in two separate runs.
Best Drop Routes for the Snap Module (Abandoned Clinic)
The Abandoned Clinic is located in the northeastern part of the map, near the North Gate extraction point. The medical crates that contain the Snap Module spawn in three possible locations inside the clinic building.
- Route A (Safest): Spawn at the North Gate extraction point (if available) or the Meadow spawn. Head directly east toward the clinic. Enter through the main entrance on the west side. Check the reception desk on the ground floor first — the crate is often behind the counter. If not, check the examination room to the left of the hallway.
- Route B (Fastest): Spawn at the Clinic spawn point (if you are lucky enough to get it). You are right outside the building. Enter through the back door on the east side. Check the storage room immediately to your right. If the crate is not there, go upstairs to the operating room and check the corner near the window.
- Route C (Alternative): If you spawn on the south side of the map, make your way north through the forest. The clinic is surrounded by a low fence. Enter through the broken window on the north side. Check the nurse’s station in the middle of the building.
Once you have the Snap Module, you can either extract immediately or continue to the Scrapyard for the Salvage Core. The Scrapyard is about 300 meters southwest of the clinic, so it is a short run.
Best Drop Routes for the Salvage Core (Scrapyard)
The Scrapyard is a large industrial area in the central-west part of the map. The toolboxes that contain the Salvage Core spawn in three possible locations around the main warehouse.
- Route A (Direct): From the clinic, head southwest along the dirt road. You will see the Scrapyard’s tall crane. Enter through the main gate on the east side. Check the toolboxes on the shelves near the entrance. The core is often in the second row of shelves.
- Route B (Covered): If you want to avoid open ground, follow the tree line south from the clinic. Enter the Scrapyard through the broken fence on the north side. Check the toolboxes behind the large shredder machine. If not there, check the small shed in the northwest corner.
- Route C (Rooftop): There is a ladder on the south side of the main warehouse. Climb to the rooftop and check the toolboxes near the ventilation units. This is a less-visited spot, so you are less likely to encounter other players.
After collecting the Salvage Core, you can extract at the West Gate extraction point, which is about 200 meters west of the Scrapyard. This is the closest extraction to your objective.
Common Mistakes and How to Avoid Them
Many players fail this quest because of a few avoidable errors:
- Not checking all spawn points: The crate is not always in the same spot. If you only check one location and leave, you will have to come back. Always check at least two spawn points before moving on.
- Confusing the crate types: The Snap Module is only in medical crates, and the Salvage Core is only in toolboxes. Opening other containers (ammo boxes, weapon lockers) will not give you the quest items.
- Getting ambushed while looting: The clinic and scrapyard are high-traffic areas. Clear the area of enemies (both AI and other players) before you start searching. Use the environment for cover — the clinic has many rooms, and the scrapyard has plenty of machinery to hide behind.
- Not using a silencer: If you are playing solo, a silenced weapon is almost mandatory. Shooting unsuppressed will attract every AI enemy in the area, making it nearly impossible to loot in peace.
- Dying after picking up the item: Remember, the items are added to your quest progress immediately upon pickup. So even if you die later, you keep the progress. However, if you die before picking up the item, you lose it. So prioritize picking up the item over fighting.
Comparing Solo vs. Squad Approaches
You can complete this quest solo or with a squad, but the approach differs:
- Solo: You have the advantage of stealth. Move slowly, use silenced weapons, and avoid unnecessary fights. The main risk is getting overwhelmed by AI enemies or ambushed by a squad. Your route should prioritize cover and quick escapes.
- Squad (2-3 players): You can clear areas faster and watch each other’s backs. One player can act as a lookout while the other loots. The main risk is that squads attract more attention — the noise of multiple players often brings in other squads looking for fights. Your route can be more direct, but you should still avoid open areas.
For most players, solo is easier for this quest because the objectives are in small, confined areas where a squad’s firepower is less useful than stealth. However, if you are new to the game, going with one experienced friend can help you learn the map.
What to Do If the Items Don’t Spawn (Bug or Looted?)
Sometimes you will check all known spawn points and the crate is simply not there. This can happen for two reasons:
- Another player already looted it: In Arc Raiders, quest items are not instanced — if another player in the same raid picks up the Snap Module, it is gone for everyone. This is rare but possible. If you see other players near the clinic, they may have taken it. You will need to try again in a new raid.
- Server lag or bug: Occasionally, the crate may not render or the item may not spawn due to a server issue. If you are sure you have checked all locations and the crate is not there, try relogging or restarting the game. In most cases, a fresh raid will fix the issue.
To minimize the risk of someone else taking the items, try to do the quest early in the raid (right after drop) or late (after most players have extracted). Mid-raid is when the most players are active.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I complete Snap and Salvage in one run?
Yes, absolutely. The clinic and scrapyard are only about 300 meters apart, and you can easily do both in a single raid if you spawn on the north or west side of the map. The total time is usually 10-15 minutes, depending on how many enemies you encounter.
Do I need to extract with the items?
No. The items are added to your quest progress the moment you pick them up. You can die immediately after and still have the quest updated. However, you will lose any other loot you collected, so it is still wise to extract safely.
Are the spawn points always the same?
The spawn points are fixed in the sense that the crate always appears in one of the three locations I listed, but the exact location changes per raid. You will need to check at least two to be sure.
Can I get the Snap Module and Salvage Core from any other containers?
No. The Snap Module only spawns in medical crates, and the Salvage Core only spawns in toolboxes. There are no other container types that drop these items. The game is very specific about this.
What happens if I abandon the quest?
If you abandon the quest, you will lose any progress you have made and will have to re-accept it from Kestrel. You can re-accept it at any time, but you will start from zero. It is generally better to keep the quest active and complete it over a few runs.
Is there a level requirement for this quest?
The quest is available from level 5 onward. However, the enemies in the clinic and scrapyard are level 8-10, so it is recommended to be at least level 8 before attempting it. If you go in at level 5, bring a friend or be very stealthy.
