Watch Movies Together Friends Online? Yes, Here's How

Yes, you can watch movies together with friends online using synchronized streaming services, browser extensions, and virtual watch party platforms. These tools let everyone press play at the same time, see the same frame, and chat or video call while the movie plays, no matter where each person is located.

Formula

The calculator above works out your average running or walking pace and speed from two numbers you enter: the total time it took to finish, and the distance you covered. The formulas are:

Pace = Time (minutes) ÷ Distance (kilometers)

Speed = Distance (kilometers) ÷ (Time (minutes) ÷ 60)

Where:

  • Time is the total minutes from start to finish (e.g., 50 minutes).
  • Distance is the length of the route in kilometers (e.g., 10 km).
  • Pace is the result in minutes per kilometer (min/km) — how long it takes you to cover one kilometer.
  • Speed is the result in kilometers per hour (km/h) — how many kilometers you cover in one hour.

If you prefer miles, convert distance to kilometers first (1 mile = 1.60934 km) or use the pace in min/mile by dividing time by miles directly.

Worked Example

Using the default values from the calculator above: you ran 10 kilometers in 50 minutes.

Step 1: Calculate pace. Divide total time by distance: 50 ÷ 10 = 5.0 min/km.

Step 2: Calculate speed. First convert time to hours: 50 ÷ 60 = 0.8333 hours. Then divide distance by time in hours: 10 ÷ 0.8333 = 12.0 km/h.

So your average pace is 5.0 min/km and your average speed is 12.0 km/h. The calculator shows the same results.

When to Use This Calculator

Use this calculator when you finish a run, walk, or bike ride and want to know your average pace or speed. It is especially handy for training plans that specify pace targets (e.g., “run at 5:30 min/km) or for comparing your performance across different routes and distances. You can also use it to estimate finish times: if you know your target pace, multiply pace by distance to get total minutes.

How to Read the Result

A lower pace number means faster (fewer minutes per kilometer). A higher speed number also means faster. For example, a pace of 4.5 min/km is faster than 6.0 min/km, and a speed of 13.3 km/h is faster than 10 km/h. The two numbers are inversely related — if your pace improves (drops), your speed increases.

Common Mistakes

  • Mixing units: If you measure distance in miles but time in minutes, dividing gives min/mile, not min/km. Always convert to the same unit system before calculating.
  • Forgetting to convert time: If you enter time in hours and minutes (e.g., 1:30), you must convert to total minutes (90) before using the formula.
  • Rounding too early: Round only the final answer, not intermediate steps, to avoid small errors.

Limitations of the Formula

The pace and speed formulas assume a constant speed over the entire distance. In reality, terrain, stops, and changes in effort make your actual pace vary. The result is an average, not a moment-by-moment measurement. Also, the calculator does not account for elevation gain, which can make the same distance take longer even if your flat pace is identical.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I convert my pace from min/km to min/mile?

Multiply the pace in min/km by 1.60934 to get min/mile. For example, 5.0 min/km × 1.60934 = 8.05 min/mile. Conversely, divide min/mile by 1.60934 to get min/km.

What is a good running pace for a beginner?

A comfortable conversational pace for a beginner is often around 6:30 to 8:00 min/km (10:30 to 12:50 min/mile). This varies widely with age, fitness, and training. The best pace is one you can maintain while still being able to speak in short sentences.

Can I use this calculator for walking?

Yes, the same formulas work for walking. A typical walking pace is around 10 to 12 min/km (16 to 19 min/mile), which corresponds to a speed of about 5 to 6 km/h.

How do I calculate my finish time for a race?

Multiply your target pace (in min/km) by the race distance (in km). For a 10 km race at 5:30 min/km, finish time = 5.5 × 10 = 55 minutes. Add any extra time for water stops or hills.

Why does my GPS watch show a different pace than this calculator?

GPS watches calculate pace in real time using your movement, including stops and short slowdowns. This calculator gives an average pace based on total time and total distance, which may differ if you paused your watch during the run.
