Yes, you can view your own Upwork profile at any time by going to your profile page while logged in. To see it the way clients see it, click your profile photo in the top right, select “Profile, and then use the “View Profile or “Public View button. This article explains the different ways to access your profile, how to preview it as a client, and how to fix common viewing problems.
Formula
This calculator works out your average pace and speed for a run, ride, or walk. Pace is the time it takes to cover one kilometer (or mile), and speed is the distance covered in one hour. The formulas are:
Pace = Finish time (minutes) ÷ Distance (km) → result in min/km
Speed = Distance (km) ÷ (Finish time (minutes) ÷ 60) → result in km/h
Variables:
- Finish time (t): total time from start to finish, in minutes.
- Distance (d): total distance covered, in kilometers.
- Pace: minutes per kilometer (min/km).
- Speed: kilometers per hour (km/h).
Worked Example
Using the default values: finish time = 50 minutes, distance = 10 km.
- Pace = 50 ÷ 10 = 5.0 min/km
- Speed = 10 ÷ (50 ÷ 60) = 10 ÷ 0.8333 = 12.0 km/h
So the average pace is 5:00 per kilometer, and the average speed is 12.0 km/h.
How to View Your Own Upwork Profile
Upwork gives you two main ways to see your profile: the editing view and the public view. The editing view is what you see when you click “Profile in the main menu—it shows all fields with edit buttons. The public view is how clients see your profile when they search for freelancers or click your link. To switch to the public view, look for a button labeled “View Profile or “Public View near the top of the editing page. On the Upwork app, tap your profile picture and choose “View Profile.
Why View Your Profile as a Client Would
Your public profile is your main marketing tool on Upwork. Clients see it before they invite you or send a proposal. Viewing it as a client helps you spot missing sections, awkward formatting, or outdated information. For example, you might notice that your profile photo is cropped oddly or that your overview paragraph has a spelling mistake. Checking the public view also shows you which parts are visible without login—some clients browse without an account, so it’s useful to see what they can access.
Common Problems When Viewing Your Profile
Sometimes you click “View Profile and nothing happens, or you see an error page. Here are common issues and fixes:
- Profile not loading: Refresh the page, clear your browser cache, or try a different browser.
- Seeing a “Profile Not Found message: This usually means your profile is set to private or not yet approved. Go to Settings > Privacy and check the visibility setting.
- Public view shows an old version: Upwork may take a few minutes to update the public version after you edit. Wait a bit and refresh.
- Mobile app doesn’t show the public view: Use the browser version on your phone instead of the app.
How to Make Your Profile More Visible
If you want clients to find you, your profile needs to be public and searchable. In your profile settings, ensure “Profile Visibility is set to “Public. You can also choose to hide your earnings or profile photo from the public while still showing them to logged-in clients. Upwork’s search algorithm ranks profiles based on completeness, relevance, and activity. A complete profile with a clear headline, detailed overview, skills, and portfolio items ranks better.
Profile Privacy and Security
You have control over who sees what. Upwork lets you set your profile to private, which hides it from search engines and clients. You can also block specific clients from viewing your profile. Be cautious about sharing your profile link on public forums—anyone with the link can see your public info. Upwork does not show your email or phone number on your public profile, so you don’t need to worry about that being exposed.
Alternatives to Viewing Your Profile
If you want to see how your profile appears in search results, you can log out and search for your skills on Upwork. You won’t see your own profile unless you’re logged in, but you can use a private browser window to search as a visitor. Another option is to ask a friend to look at your profile and give feedback. Upwork also offers a “Profile Stats feature that shows how many views and proposals you’ve received.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I see my Upwork profile as a client sees it?
Log in, go to your profile page, and click the “View Profile button (sometimes labeled “Public View). This opens a new tab with the client-facing version. On the mobile app, tap your profile photo and select “View Profile.
Why can’t I see my profile on Upwork?
Your profile might be set to private, or it may not have been approved yet. Check your privacy settings under Settings > Privacy. If you just created your account, Upwork may need time to review your profile before it becomes visible.
Can I edit my profile after it’s public?
Yes, you can edit your profile anytime. Changes usually appear immediately, but the public version might take a few minutes to update. Edits that affect your search ranking (like your headline or skills) may take longer to reflect.
Is my Upwork profile visible to everyone?
By default, your profile is public, meaning anyone can see it if they have the link or find it in search. You can change this to private in your settings, which hides it from search engines and non-logged-in users. Logged-in clients may still see it unless you block them.
How do I make my Upwork profile private?
Go to Settings > Privacy and change “Profile Visibility to “Private. This hides your profile from search engines and from clients who aren’t logged in. Note that Upwork may still show your profile to clients you’ve applied to, so they can review your proposal.
Can I see who viewed my Upwork profile?
Upwork does not show you a list of who viewed your profile. You can see the number of profile views in your “Profile Stats dashboard, but not the names of the viewers. This is to protect client privacy.
