An OSRS Agility lap calculator estimates how many course laps you need to reach a target level or XP total, and how long those laps may take. Enter your current XP, target XP, XP earned per lap, and average lap time; the results are estimates because course bonuses and your actual pace can vary.
Formula
The calculator rounds the XP still needed up to a whole lap, then multiplies that lap count by average lap time:
- Laps needed = ceiling(max(0, target XP − current XP) ÷ XP per lap)
- Estimated time in minutes = laps needed × average minutes per lap
- Estimated XP per hour = XP per lap × 60 ÷ average minutes per lap
Here, current XP and target XP are experience points (XP), XP per lap is the experience awarded for one completed lap, and average lap time is minutes per lap. The ceiling function means rounding any fractional lap upward: 2.1 required laps means planning for 3 full laps. If current XP is already at or above the target, the calculator returns zero laps and zero time. Enter a positive lap time to get a meaningful hourly rate.
Worked Example
Using the calculator’s defaults—500,000 current XP, a 1,000,000 XP target, 500 XP per lap, and a one-minute lap:
- XP remaining = 1,000,000 − 500,000 = 500,000 XP.
- Laps needed = ceiling(500,000 ÷ 500) = 1,000 laps.
- Estimated time = 1,000 × 1 = 1,000 minutes, or 16 hours and 40 minutes.
- XP per hour = 500 × 60 ÷ 1 = 30,000 XP/h.
The estimate assumes every lap awards 500 XP and takes exactly one minute. It is a planning calculation, not a prediction that accounts for breaks, mistakes, interruptions, or changing course conditions.
How to Use an OSRS Agility Lap Calculator
First choose what you want to estimate. For a level goal, look up the XP threshold for that level and enter it as the target. For an XP goal, enter the exact total instead. Then use the XP value for the course and lap activity you actually plan to complete, and time several representative laps to find a realistic average.
- Current Agility XP: Use your present total XP, rather than your level number. OSRS XP requirements rise nonlinearly, so level differences do not translate directly into a fixed number of laps.
- Target Agility XP: Enter the total XP needed for your intended level or milestone.
- XP per lap: Use the amount that applies to your course and the way you are completing it. Some activities award additional XP for completing a full circuit or meeting particular conditions; do not treat a partial course section as a full lap.
- Average lap time: Measure several laps, including normal movement and obstacles, then divide total elapsed time by the number completed.
The output is useful for comparing plans, but change one assumption at a time when comparing courses. A faster course is not automatically better if its XP per lap is lower; compare estimated XP per hour as well as the total time to your target.
Finding XP and Level Targets
Agility levels are tied to cumulative XP thresholds, not to a fixed XP amount per level. For example, the calculator’s 1,000,000 XP target is an XP total, not a level. To estimate laps to a level, look up that level’s XP requirement in a current, reliable OSRS skill table, then enter the result. The calculator does not contain a built-in level table, so it cannot convert a level name into XP by itself.
Similarly, XP per lap is not universal. It depends on the activity, course, and applicable rewards. Check the current information for the exact method you intend to use, especially if you are comparing ordinary obstacle completion with a full-lap bonus or another Agility activity. Using the wrong XP figure can make a mathematically correct estimate misleading.
Choosing a Useful Lap-Time Estimate
Use an average based on your own ordinary runs rather than the single fastest lap. Time a small batch of complete laps under the conditions you expect to continue with. Divide the total minutes by the number of laps, and enter the result as minutes; for example, 90 seconds is 1.5 minutes.
Include any delays that are part of your normal session, such as recovering from a missed obstacle, but do not include long breaks unless you want the estimate to represent real elapsed time including those breaks. If your pace changes as you become familiar with a course, calculate a fresh average. A short, clean sample can overstate your sustainable rate.
Common Errors and Limits
- Entering a level instead of XP: The XP fields expect cumulative experience points, not a level such as 60 or 70.
- Mixing seconds and minutes: The lap-time input is in minutes. Enter 0.75 for 45 seconds, not 45.
- Using XP for a different activity: Confirm the award applies to a completed lap and to your chosen method.
- Ignoring whole laps: The estimate rounds up because a fraction of a lap usually will not complete the target.
- Taking the hourly rate as a guarantee: It assumes a steady pace and identical XP awards. Real results can vary with execution and interruptions.
This is a simple estimate: it does not model level-up timing within a lap, changing rewards, bonus XP, or time spent on breaks unless you include those in your average. It also does not determine which course is best for your account; that choice can depend on requirements and preferences beyond XP and time.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate laps to the next Agility level?
Find the XP threshold for the level you want, subtract your current XP, and divide by XP per lap. Round the result up to a whole lap. The calculator does these steps if you enter the threshold and lap reward.
Does the calculator know the XP needed for each level?
No. Enter the target XP yourself using a current OSRS XP table. The calculator estimates laps and time from the XP values you provide.
Should I enter XP per obstacle or XP per lap?
For a lap estimate, enter the total XP you expect to receive for the complete lap. If the activity gives an additional completion reward, include it only when it applies to your run.
How can I estimate my Agility XP per hour?
Divide XP per lap multiplied by 60 by average lap time in minutes. The calculator reports this rate, assuming the same lap reward and pace continue consistently.
Why is my actual time different from the estimate?
The calculation assumes uniform lap times and XP. Missed obstacles, interruptions, different rewards, or a timing sample that does not reflect your usual pace can all change the result.
