Hellraiser Revival: Find Keys & Unlock Every Room

This guide covers the key locations and unlock order for every reported room in Hellraiser Revival, from the first puzzle box chamber to the final cenobite confrontation. You’ll need to have completed the prologue and have the basic puzzle box (the Lament Configuration) in your inventory before any of these unlocks are possible.

What You’ll Need

  • The Lament Configuration (obtained at the end of the prologue)
  • At least one key fragment (found in the first two hallways)
  • A crowbar or similar pry tool (found in the maintenance closet, room 3)
  • The ability to solve the box’s first two configurations (the “Open” and “Summon” patterns)

Step-by-Step

  1. Start in the Central Hub. After the prologue, you spawn in the circular hub with six doors. Each door corresponds to a “reported” room. The doors are labeled with Roman numerals I through VI. Do not attempt to open them in order; the correct sequence is based on the keys you find, not the door numbers.
  2. Unlock Room I (The Whisper Gallery) — First Key. The first key is not in a room; it’s on a corpse in the hallway leading to Room I. Walk down the corridor, examine the body slumped against the left wall. The key is in its coat pocket. Use it on the door to Room I. Inside, you’ll find the first key fragment and a note about the “Order of the Gash.”
  3. Solve the box to get the second key. After leaving Room I, the Lament Configuration will vibrate. Solve the “Summon” pattern (rotate the top left quadrant twice, then the bottom right once). This opens a hidden compartment in the hub floor, revealing the second key. This key opens Room IV, not Room II.
  4. Unlock Room IV (The Surgery) — Second Key. Use the key from the hub floor on Room IV. Inside, you’ll find the bone saw (a melee weapon) and the third key fragment. There is also a wall safe that requires a three-digit code — the code is on the back of the note from Room I (it reads 7-4-2). The safe contains a spare key for Room II.
  5. Unlock Room II (The Boiler Room) — Spare Key. Use the spare key from the safe on Room II. Inside, you’ll find the fourth key fragment and a valve wheel. Do not turn the valve yet; it releases steam that blocks the exit. Instead, take the valve wheel and leave.
  6. Attach the valve wheel to the hub’s central pillar. Return to the hub. There is a broken valve stem on the central pillar. Attach the wheel and turn it. This lowers a staircase from the ceiling, revealing a small attic crawlspace. Inside the crawlspace is the third key, which opens Room V.
  7. Unlock Room V (The Larder) — Third Key. Use the third key on Room V. Inside, you’ll find frozen corpses and the fifth key fragment. There is also a meat hook that can be used as a weapon. Search the far corner for a small box of matches — these are essential for Room III.
  8. Unlock Room III (The Chapel) — Use the matches. Room III’s door has no keyhole; it has a brazier. Light the brazier with the matches. The door will open. Inside, you’ll find the sixth key fragment and a ceremonial dagger. The dagger is required to open Room VI.
  9. Combine the six fragments. Open your inventory and combine the six key fragments. This creates the “Chatterer Key” — a twisted, tooth-covered key. This is the master key for Room VI.
  10. Unlock Room VI (The Labyrinth Core) — Final Room. Use the Chatterer Key on Room VI. This triggers the final sequence. You will face two cenobites. Defeat them, then use the Chatterer Key on the central pillar inside the room to unlock the exit. This is the only room that must be completed in one go; leaving will reset the room’s puzzle.

Common Mistakes

  • Using keys on the wrong doors. The keys are not labeled. If a key doesn’t fit, it doesn’t mean you’re stuck — it means you haven’t found the right key yet. Do not force it; check the hub floor and the attic again.
  • Skipping the attic. Many players miss the valve wheel step. The attic is only accessible after attaching the wheel to the central pillar. If you haven’t done this, you won’t have the third key.
  • Turning the boiler valve. In Room II, turning the valve before you have the wheel attached to the central pillar will flood the room with steam, forcing you to wait for it to dissipate. It doesn’t lock you out, but it wastes time and can trap you if you’re low on health.
  • Not combining fragments. The six fragments do nothing individually after you pick them up. You must combine them in the inventory screen. If you try to use them on Room VI’s door, nothing happens.
  • Leaving Room VI. Once you enter Room VI, the door locks behind you. If you die, you respawn at the hub but the room resets. You will need to re-enter and redo the fight. You do not lose the Chatterer Key, but you must redo the puzzle.

Tips

  • Save before each door. The game autosaves, but manual saves are safer. Save right before entering a new room, so you can reload if you trigger a trap.
  • Listen for the box. The Lament Configuration hums louder when you are near a hidden key or fragment. Use this audio cue to search the hub thoroughly.
  • Read every note. The safe code in Room IV is on a note in Room I. The order of the rooms is hinted at in the notes, not in the door numbers.
  • Use the bone saw on the frozen corpses. In Room V, some frozen corpses can be broken open for health items. Do not waste your ammo on them; the saw works faster.
  • Keep the matches until Room III. Do not use them to light torches in earlier rooms. There is only one box of matches in the game, and Room III is mandatory.

Troubleshooting

  • Key doesn’t fit any door. You likely missed the attic or the hub floor compartment. Return to the central pillar and check if the valve wheel is attached. If it is, check the floor for the hidden panel — it opens only after solving the “Summon” pattern on the box.
  • Room III won’t open even with matches. The brazier is on the left side of the door, not the center. Interact with it directly. If the matches are in your inventory but not selected, you may need to select them first.
  • Fragments won’t combine. Ensure you have all six. The game does not track which ones you have visually. Count them in the inventory. If you have six and they still won’t combine, reload the last save — this is a known soft-lock bug.
  • Stuck in Room VI after dying. The room resets, but you keep the Chatterer Key. Re-enter the room and redo the puzzle. The two cenobites will respawn. Use the ceremonial dagger for faster kills.
  • Steam in Room II won’t clear. This is a timer-based mechanic. Wait 90 seconds near the door, or leave the room and come back. The steam does not persist once you exit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to unlock the rooms in the order listed?

Yes, effectively. The keys are gated: the second key requires the first room’s note, the third key requires the second room’s valve, and so on. You cannot skip ahead.

Can I unlock Room VI without the Chatterer Key?

No. The door to Room VI has a unique keyhole that only the combined Chatterer Key fits. There is no alternate route.

What happens if I miss a key fragment?

You cannot progress. The fragments are in fixed locations, one per room. If you miss one, you must reload a save or re-enter the room if it’s still accessible. Rooms I through V remain accessible after you leave.

Is there a time limit for unlocking all rooms?

No. You can take as long as you like. However, some rooms have environmental hazards (steam, enemies) that can wear down your health over time.

Do the cenobites in Room VI drop anything?

No. They drop nothing. The only reward is the exit unlock. Do not waste time looting them.

Can I replay rooms after unlocking the exit?

After you unlock the exit in Room VI, the game moves to the next chapter. You cannot return to the hub. Make sure you have collected everything before leaving.
