Golden Scapegoat Locations in Honkai Star Rail
The calculator for this page is switched off while it is checked. The formula is below, and the worked example in the article shows how to use it by hand.
This guide lists every Golden Scapegoat location in Honkai: Star Rail’s Penacony area and explains how to reach each one. You’ll get a complete checklist of all 12 Golden Scapegoats, the exact area each is in, and tips for solving the puzzle they unlock.
What Are Golden Scapegoats?
Golden Scapegoats are collectible items found only in Penacony, the dreamscape world introduced in Version 2.0. They appear as small, golden goat statues scattered across the four main Penacony maps: Golden Hour, Dream’s Edge, A Child’s Dream, and The Reverie (both the hotel and the dream version). Each one you find adds to a counter in your Inventory under the Mission Items tab. Collecting all 12 unlocks a hidden achievement called “Scapegoat” and gives you a small amount of Stellar Jade as a reward.
Unlike many other collectibles, Golden Scapegoats are not tied to a single quest. You can pick them up in any order, and they do not respawn. They are also not shown on the map, so you have to find them by exploring or following a guide. The locations below are ordered by map, and each entry gives you the exact spot relative to a warp anchor or landmark.
Golden Hour Locations (4 Scapegoats)
Golden Hour is the first Penacony map you visit. It is a bright, carnival-like area with multiple levels. Four Golden Scapegoats are hidden here.
- Near the Dreamjoy Resort anchor: From the Dreamjoy Resort space anchor, head south down the stairs. The Scapegoat is on a small table next to a vending machine, partially hidden by a plant.
- On the rooftop above the Clock Dude: Go to the area where you first meet Clock Dude (the mascot). Look for a climbable billboard on the west side. Climb it, then jump across the air vents to the rooftop. The Scapegoat sits on an air conditioning unit.
- Inside the sweet shop: Enter the Sweet Dreams shop (the one with the giant cake in the window). The Scapegoat is on a shelf behind the counter, to the left of the cash register. You can walk behind the counter without triggering any dialogue.
- By the fountain in the central plaza: The central plaza has a large fountain with a statue. The Scapegoat is on the ground, tucked behind the fountain’s base on the northeast side, near a bench.
Dream’s Edge Locations (3 Scapegoats)
Dream’s Edge is a more industrial, dreamlike zone with floating platforms and broken roads. Three Scapegoats are here, and one requires solving a small platforming puzzle.
- On the broken highway overpass: From the Dream’s Edge space anchor, head east along the highway. The overpass is broken, and you need to jump across the gap. The Scapegoat is on the far side, next to a crashed car.
- Inside the abandoned warehouse: The warehouse is on the south side of the map, marked by a large “DREAM” sign. Enter through the side door (the front door is locked). The Scapegoat is on a crate near the back wall, next to a pile of cardboard boxes.
- On the floating platform above the fountain: This one is tricky. In the area with the large fountain that shoots water upward, look up. There is a floating platform with a golden glow. Use the nearby Dreammobile (the car you can summon) to launch yourself onto it. The Scapegoat is on the platform’s edge.
A Child’s Dream Locations (2 Scapegoats)
A Child’s Dream is a small, surreal map that looks like a child’s drawing. It only has two Scapegoats, but both are easy to miss because the map is visually busy.
- Behind the giant crayon drawing: Near the center of the map, there is a giant crayon drawing of a house on the wall. Walk behind it (the drawing is a physical object, not just a texture). The Scapegoat is on the floor behind it.
- On the swing set: In the northeast corner of the map, there is a swing set. The Scapegoat is on the seat of the left swing, partially obscured by the chain.
The Reverie Locations (3 Scapegoats)
The Reverie has two versions: the real hotel (The Reverie) and the dream version (The Reverie Dreamscape). Both are considered part of the same map for collection purposes. Three Scapegoats are here.
- The Reverie (real hotel) – Lobby bar: In the hotel lobby, go to the bar area on the left. The Scapegoat is on the bar counter, next to a bottle of wine. It is easy to see, but many players miss it because they rush through the lobby.
- The Reverie (real hotel) – Second floor hallway: Take the elevator to the second floor. The hallway has several doors. The Scapegoat is on a small table between rooms 204 and 205, near a decorative vase.
- The Reverie Dreamscape – Near the entrance: In the dream version of the hotel, immediately after you enter, look to your right. There is a floating staircase. The Scapegoat is on the third step from the top, on the left side.
How to Reach the Hidden 12th Scapegoat
There are actually 12 Golden Scapegoats in total, but the 12th one is not on any of the four main maps. It is located in the “Dreamflux Reef” area, which is a sub-area of Penacony that becomes accessible during the Trailblaze Mission “In the Sweltering Morning Sun.” If you have not progressed that far, you cannot get this one.
Once you unlock Dreamflux Reef, go to the central platform where the giant clock tower is. The Scapegoat is on a ledge behind the clock tower, reachable by jumping across the floating debris. This is the last one most players find, and it is the one that completes the achievement.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do Golden Scapegoats respawn?
No. Each Golden Scapegoat is a one-time collectible. Once you pick it up, it is gone for good. If you miss one, you cannot go back and find it later unless you reload the area, but it will not reappear if you already collected it. Use a checklist to avoid missing any.
What do you get for collecting all Golden Scapegoats?
Collecting all 12 unlocks the achievement “Scapegoat” under the “Moments of Joy” category. This achievement gives you 20 Stellar Jade. There is no other reward, no special item, and no quest tied to collecting them all.
Can I get Golden Scapegoats after finishing the main story?
Yes. All Golden Scapegoats are accessible after the main story, as long as you have unlocked the respective maps. The only exception is the one in Dreamflux Reef, which requires you to have completed the Trailblaze Mission that unlocks that area. After that, you can go back at any time.
Are Golden Scapegoats shown on the map?
No. They do not appear on the map, and there is no in-game tracker for them. You have to find them by exploring or using an external guide. This is why many players miss a few and have to backtrack.
Why is my Golden Scapegoat count stuck at 11?
The most common reason is that you missed the one in Dreamflux Reef. It is the only one that requires story progression to access. Double-check that you have completed the Trailblaze Mission “In the Sweltering Morning Sun” and then look behind the clock tower in Dreamflux Reef.
Do Golden Scapegoats have any use besides the achievement?
No. They are purely collectible items. They do not open any doors, unlock any chests, or interact with any puzzles. Their only purpose is to be collected for the achievement and the Stellar Jade reward.
