Gift Nifty 50 Support and Resistance Levels Now

Gift Nifty 50 current support and resistance levels are approximately 24,850 and 25,150 respectively, based on recent trading sessions. These levels shift daily as the market moves, so the exact numbers change with each close. The table below lets you calculate today’s pivot-based support and resistance from the previous day’s high, low, and close.

Formula

The classic floor-trader pivot formula uses the previous day’s high (H), low (L), and close (C) to project today’s likely turning points:

  • Resistance 1 (R1) = (2 × C) − L
  • Support 1 (S1) = (2 × C) − H
  • Resistance 2 (R2) = C + (H − L)
  • Support 2 (S2) = C − (H − L)

All values are in index points. The pivot itself (P) = (H + L + C) / 3, which is not shown as an output but is the base for many traders’ decisions.

Worked Example

Using the defaults from the calculator: H = 25,200, L = 24,900, C = 25,050.

  1. R1 = (2 × 25,050) − 24,900 = 50,100 − 24,900 = 25,200
  2. S1 = (2 × 25,050) − 25,200 = 50,100 − 25,200 = 24,900
  3. R2 = 25,050 + (25,200 − 24,900) = 25,050 + 300 = 25,350
  4. S2 = 25,050 − (25,200 − 24,900) = 25,050 − 300 = 24,750

The calculator gives R1 = 25,200, S1 = 24,900, R2 = 25,350, S2 = 24,750, matching the manual steps.

What Is Gift Nifty 50?

Gift Nifty is the futures contract on the Nifty 50 index traded on the NSE International Exchange (NSE IX) in GIFT City, Gujarat. It replaced the Singapore-listed SGX Nifty in 2023. Because it trades nearly 24 hours a day (except for a short break), it serves as the global indicator for Indian equity markets. The contract tracks the same Nifty 50 constituents as the domestic futures, but it is priced in US dollars and settles in Indian rupees.

For a trader, the key difference is timing: when Indian markets are closed, Gift Nifty still reacts to global news, US Fed moves, and Asian market openings. That makes its support and resistance levels more dynamic than the domestic Nifty’s, which only trades during regular hours.

How Support and Resistance Work in Index Futures

Support is a price level where buying pressure historically overcomes selling pressure, causing the price to bounce upward. Resistance is the opposite: a level where selling pressure halts an upward move. In index futures like Gift Nifty, these levels are not arbitrary lines—they form because of:

  • Round numbers (e.g., 25,000, 25,100) where traders place psychological orders
  • Previous day’s high/low, which act as natural barriers
  • Moving averages (20-day, 50-day) that institutional traders watch
  • Fibonacci retracement levels from recent swings

The pivot-point method above is one of the simplest and most widely used because it only needs three data points. It works best in range-bound markets; in strong trends, price often blows through the first support or resistance, making the second level more relevant.

How to Read the Calculator Output

The first output, R1, is the most immediate resistance. If the index is trading below R1, expect selling near that level. S1 is the immediate support; if the index is above S1, expect buying near it. R2 and S2 are secondary levels—they matter more when the market breaks the first level decisively.

For example, if today’s high is 25,200 and the index is currently at 25,050, the calculator shows R1 at 25,200. That means the previous high is acting as resistance. A break above 25,200 on strong volume could open the path to R2 at 25,350. Conversely, a drop below 24,900 (S1) could lead to S2 at 24,750.

These levels are not guarantees. They are probabilities based on where other traders have placed orders. The more times a level is tested without breaking, the stronger it becomes.

Common Mistakes When Using Pivot Levels

The biggest error is using the wrong day’s data. You must use the previous completed trading session’s high, low, and close—not the current day’s intraday values. For Gift Nifty, which trades nearly 24 hours, the
