Enshrouded 1.0 Materials by Region: Where to Find Each One

This guide lists every major crafting material in Enshrouded 1.0 and the region where you can find it. You enter your current region or the material you need, and the answer below gives the exact biome, common locations, and any special requirements (like a tool or boss) to obtain it.

How Materials Are Tied to Regions

Enshrouded’s world is split into distinct biomes, and each biome has a set of materials that only spawn there. The game’s progression is largely gated by these materials: you need Springlands materials to build basic gear, then move to Revelwood for better tools, and so on. Each region also has a “flame level” requirement – your Flame Altar must be upgraded to a certain level before the Shroud in that region stops killing you instantly.

The regions in order of intended progression are:

  • Springlands (starting area)
  • Revelwood (northwest)
  • Nomad Highlands (northeast)
  • Kindlewastes (southwest desert)
  • Albaneve Summits (north, snowy)
  • Blackmire (southeast swamp)
  • Pillars of Creation (endgame, central)

Springlands – Starting Materials

The Springlands are the green, rolling hills where you begin. Almost everything you need for the first 10 hours is here.

  • Flint – Found on the ground near rivers and along rocky cliffs. Look for grey, knobbly rocks.
  • Plant Fiber – Harvested from tall grass and small bushes. You’ll get it automatically when you gather plants.
  • Shroud Wood – Dropped by the large, twisted trees that grow inside the Shroud. You need to enter the Shroud to get it.
  • String – Crafted from Plant Fiber, but also dropped by spiders in the Braelyn Bridge area.
  • Resin – From chopping down regular trees (oak, birch).
  • Bones – From skeletons in the many ruins and from the graveyard south of the starting area.
  • Linen – Crafted from Plant Fiber at a Loom, but you need a Loom which requires a Workbench.

Revelwood – Early Game Upgrades

Revelwood is the forested region northwest of the Springlands. It’s accessible after you upgrade your Flame to level 2. The Shroud here is more toxic, so bring better gear.

  • Copper Ore – Mined from copper nodes in the western part of Revelwood, especially around the Ancient Spire.
  • Tin Ore – Found in the eastern part, near the Vault of the Cinder.
  • Lapis Lazuli – A blue gemstone found in caves and on cliffs, often near copper nodes.
  • Clay – Mined from brown, layered deposits along riverbanks.
  • Sandstone – From the same cliffs as copper, but more common.
  • Shroud Spores – Dropped by the spore-spewing plants in the Shroud.

Nomad Highlands – Mid-Game Materials

The Nomad Highlands are to the northeast, a dry, rocky plateau. You’ll need Flame level 3 to survive the Shroud here.

  • Iron Ore – Mined from iron nodes, which are abundant on the cliffs and in the canyons.
  • Coal – Found in the same areas as iron, often on the surface.
  • Sulfur – In the eastern part, near the lava pools and the Pyra’s Throat area.
  • Nitrate – Mined from white, crusty deposits in caves.
  • Alchemical Base – Crafted from water, charcoal, and a few other ingredients, but the recipe is unlocked in this region.
  • Hardwood – From the acacia trees that dot the highlands.

Kindlewastes – Desert and Late Mid-Game

The Kindlewastes is the desert in the southwest, requiring Flame level 4. It’s a harsh, dry region with cacti and sandstone mesas.

  • Gold Ore – Mined from gold nodes in the northern part of the desert, near the Ancient Spire.
  • Silver Ore – Found in the southern part, often in the same veins as gold.
  • Salt – Mined from white, crystalline deposits on the surface.
  • Sand – Collected from the ground everywhere, but you need a shovel.
  • Glass – Smelted from sand in a furnace.
  • Palladium Ore – A rare ore found in the eastern mountains of the Kindlewastes, near the Pillars of Creation.

Albaneve Summits – High-Level Materials

The Albaneve Summits are the snowy mountains in the north, unlocked at Flame level 5. The cold will damage you if you don’t have warm gear.

  • Obsidian – Mined from black, glassy nodes in the volcanic caves.
  • Star Metal – A rare ore that appears as glowing blue veins in the highest peaks. You need a pickaxe with at least a certain power.
  • Diamond – Found in the same caves as obsidian, but rarer.
  • Frostwood – From the pine trees that grow in the snowy areas.
  • Yeti Fur – Dropped by yetis, which are common in the northern part.

Blackmire – Swamp and Endgame Materials

Blackmire is the swamp in the southeast, requiring Flame level 6. It’s a toxic, foggy area with dangerous creatures.

  • Lumenite – A glowing ore found in the underground caves, often near water.
  • Shroud Core – Dropped by the elite Shroud creatures, especially the ones guarding the Ancient Spire.
  • Vile Wax – From the giant bees that nest in the swamp trees.
  • Moss – Harvested from the ground and rocks, but you need a sickle.
  • Lotus Flower – Found in the shallow water, often near the edges of the swamp.

Pillars of Creation – Endgame and Unique Materials

The Pillars of Creation is the central endgame area, accessible only after you’ve completed the main story up to a certain point. It’s a corrupted, alien-looking zone.

  • Prismatic Shard – Dropped by the final boss and some elite enemies.
  • Corrupted Shroud Wood – From the twisted trees in this region, but you need a special axe.
  • Ethereal Dust – Mined from floating crystal formations.
  • Ancient Remnant – Found in the ruins of the Pillars, often in chests.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know which region I’m in?

Open your map (M key). The region name is displayed in the top-left corner of the map screen. You can also look for the distinctive terrain: green hills = Springlands, forest = Revelwood, dry rocks = Nomad Highlands, desert = Kindlewastes, snow = Albaneve Summits, swamp = Blackmire.

Can I find materials from a higher region early?

Yes, but you’ll take damage from the Shroud and the enemies will be much stronger. You can technically run into a higher region and grab materials, but you’ll likely die quickly. It’s better to upgrade your Flame Altar first.

Why can’t I mine iron ore with my copper pickaxe?

Each ore requires a pickaxe with a certain mining power. Iron ore needs a pickaxe with at least 2 power. You can craft a better pickaxe using the materials you can mine (copper, tin, etc.). Check the tooltip on the pickaxe to see its power.

Do materials respawn?

Most resource nodes (ores, plants, trees) respawn after a few in-game days. However, some unique items like boss drops or chest contents do not respawn. If you need a lot of a material, mark the location on your map and return after a few days.

What’s the best way to farm Shroud Wood?

Shroud Wood comes from the large, twisted trees that grow inside the Shroud. The best method is to find a Shroud area with many trees, chop them down, and then leave the Shroud before the timer runs out. You can also get Shroud Wood from the roots that block some caves.

Is there a material that’s only available from a specific boss?

Yes, several endgame materials like Prismatic Shard and Ancient Remnant are only dropped by bosses or found in boss arenas. You’ll need to defeat the boss multiple times to get enough for crafting.
