Check Who Gifted You a Rank on Hypixel
This article explains exactly how to see who gifted you a rank (or any other item) on the Hypixel Minecraft server. You can check your in-game messages, the Hypixel website, and third-party trackers, but only the in-game chat history reliably shows the gifter’s name. The steps below work for Java Edition and most modern versions of the game.
How Rank Gifting Works on Hypixel
Hypixel allows players to purchase ranks (VIP, VIP+, MVP, MVP+, MVP++) and other items as gifts for other players. When someone buys a gift for you, the server sends you a notification in the chat and often in your inbox on the Hypixel website. The gifter can choose to remain anonymous, in which case the message will say “An anonymous player” instead of a name. Gifts are delivered instantly, but if you were offline at the time, the message appears when you next log in.
Method 1: Check In-Game Chat History
The most direct way to see who gifted you a rank is to look at your chat log. When the gift is delivered, the chat message includes the gifter’s username (unless they chose to be anonymous). To find it:
- Open your Minecraft chat and scroll up to the moment you received the gift.
- Look for a message like “PlayerName gifted you a rank!” or “PlayerName sent you a gift!”
- If you missed it, press F3 + C to copy the chat log to your clipboard, then paste it into a text editor and search for “gift”.
- Alternatively, you can find the log file in your
.minecraft/logs/folder (usuallylatest.log). Open it with a text editor and search for “gift”.
Note: If the gifter chose to be anonymous, the message will say “An anonymous player” and you cannot see their name through any official method.
Method 2: Check the Hypixel Website
Hypixel also sends a notification to your inbox on their website. Log in to hypixel.net with your Minecraft account, then go to your Inbox (the envelope icon). Look for messages from the Hypixel bot or from the player who gifted you. The message usually includes the gifter’s name and the gift details. This is useful if you were offline and missed the chat message.
Method 3: Use a Third-Party Tracker (Plancke.io)
Websites like Plancke.io track Hypixel player data, including recent gifts. You can search for your username on Plancke.io, and it may show a list of recent gifts you’ve received, including the gifter’s name (if not anonymous). However, these trackers are not official and may not always be up-to-date. They work by scraping public data, so if the gifter was anonymous, the tracker will also show “Anonymous”.
What to Do If You Can’t Find the Gifter
If you’ve checked all the above and still can’t find the name, the gifter likely chose to remain anonymous. Hypixel respects the gifter’s privacy, so there is no way to override that. If you suspect a friend gifted you but you’re not sure, you can ask them directly. Also, remember that Hypixel staff will never ask for your password or personal information, and there is no command to reveal an anonymous gifter.
Common Problems and Misconceptions
- “I never received a gift but the rank appeared” – This can happen if you bought the rank yourself and forgot, or if a friend used your account (not recommended). Check your purchase history on the Hypixel store.
- “The chat message disappeared” – If you logged in after a long time, the message may have expired. Check the website inbox or your log files.
- “Can I see who gifted me in the Hypixel API?” – No, the official API does not expose gifter information for privacy reasons.
- “Is it possible to gift a rank to myself?” – Yes, you can buy a rank as a gift for your own account, but that’s just a normal purchase.
