Castlevania Belmont's Curse: All 41 Relic Locations & Effects

This guide covers every one of the 41 relics in Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse (a fan-made RPG Maker game), exactly where to find each, and what it does once equipped. Relics are passive items that grant new abilities or stat boosts; you can hold all of them at once, and most are found in chests hidden throughout the map.

Formula

The calculator above works out your running pace and speed. The formulas are:

  • Pace (min/km) = Finish time (minutes) ÷ Distance (km)
  • Speed (km/h) = Distance (km) ÷ (Finish time (minutes) ÷ 60)

Where Finish time is the total time taken in minutes, and Distance is the distance covered in kilometers. The result for pace is shown as minutes per kilometer (e.g., 5:00 min/km), and speed is shown in kilometers per hour.

Worked Example

Using the default values from the calculator: finish time = 50 minutes, distance = 10 km.

  1. Pace = 50 min ÷ 10 km = 5.0 min/km
  2. Speed = 10 km ÷ (50 min ÷ 60) = 10 km ÷ 0.8333 h = 12.0 km/h

So the average pace is 5:00 per kilometer and the average speed is 12.0 km/h.

What Are Relics in Belmont’s Curse?

Relics are key items that permanently alter your character’s abilities. Unlike consumables, they are not used up; once obtained, they remain in your inventory and their effects are always active. The game has 41 relics in total, and collecting all of them is required for 100% completion. Some are mandatory for progression (like the Double Jump), while others are optional stat boosts or conveniences.

How to Choose Which Relics to Equip

You don’t have to choose – all relics are always active. However, if you want to prioritize, focus on the ones that give the biggest survival boost:

  • Early game: Leather Boots (speed) and Bronze Armor (damage reduction) help a lot.
  • Mid game: Double Jump is essential for exploration, and the Silver Shield reduces projectile damage from tough enemies.
  • Late game: Mythril Armor and the Holy Grail make you nearly unkillable; the Vampire Fang speeds up your attacks.

Common Mistakes & Misconceptions

A frequent mistake is missing the Rib Bone – if you don’t defeat the Giant Bat, you can’t break blocks from below, locking you out of several relics. Another common issue is assuming the Skull Key works on all locked doors; it only opens the specific door in the Catacombs. Also, some players think the Double Jump is optional, but it’s required to reach the Castle Keep’s upper areas and the final boss.

Limitations of the Relic System

Relics are permanent, but some have situational effects. For example, the Phantom Cloak‘s invisibility only triggers after taking damage, so it won’t help you avoid the first hit. The Blood Ruby only works with physical damage, not sub-weapons. Also, the Eternal Flame only reduces fire damage, not other elemental attacks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need all 41 relics to beat the game?

No, only a handful are mandatory for progression: Rib Bone, Merman Scale, Double Jump, Skull Key, and Dracula’s Relic (to unlock the final fight). The rest are optional but helpful for 100% completion.

Can I go back to earlier areas after getting new relics?

Yes, the game is non-linear in that sense. Once you have the Double Jump or the Merman Scale, you can revisit earlier areas to reach previously inaccessible chests.

What’s the best order to collect relics?

Follow the main story order: Forest of Monsters, Underground Caverns, Castle Keep, Catacombs, then Demon Castle. But if you want to get the optional relics early, you can explore with the Rib Bone and Merman Scale as soon as you get them.

Are any relics missable?

No, none are permanently missable. Even after defeating Dracula, you can reload your save and continue exploring. The only exception is if you skip an optional boss’s relic – but you can still fight them later if you haven’t left the area.

Does the Holy Grail’s effect stack if I pick it up again?

No, the Holy Grail is a one-time relic. Once you pick it up, the max HP increase is permanent, but you won’t get another one.

What does Dracula’s Relic actually do?

It enables a super move that deals massive damage to all enemies on screen, but it costs all your MP. It’s useful for the final battle and for clearing tough rooms.
