This calculator works out the profit or loss from an Arena Breakout raid by comparing the total value of items you extract with, against the total cost of the gear, ammunition, and medical supplies you brought in. Enter your loadout cost, the value of your looted items, and your survival chance (or number of successful raids), and it returns your expected net profit or loss per raid.
Formula
The core formula is simple: Expected Profit = Loot Value − Gear Cost − (1 − Survival Chance) × Gear Cost. In words, you subtract the cost of your loadout, and then subtract an additional amount representing the gear you lose when you die. If your survival chance is 50%, you lose your gear half the time, so the expected loss from gear is 1.5 times its cost. The breakeven point is the loot value that makes profit zero: Breakeven Loot = Gear Cost × (2 − Survival Chance).
Variables are defined as:
- Loot Value (Koen): total market value of everything you extract with, including quest items, weapon parts, and gear taken from other players.
- Gear Cost (Koen): total cost of your loadout, including weapon, armor, helmet, backpack, rig, ammunition, grenades, and medical items.
- Survival Chance (%): your historical or estimated extraction rate. A 50% survival chance is typical for an average player; 70% is good; 30% is below average.
Worked Example
Using the default values from the calculator: Loot Value = 100,000 Koen, Gear Cost = 50,000 Koen, Survival Chance = 50%.
- Calculate the expected gear loss: (1 − 0.50) × 50,000 = 25,000 Koen.
- Total expected cost: 50,000 (initial gear) + 25,000 (expected loss) = 75,000 Koen.
- Expected profit: 100,000 − 75,000 = 25,000 Koen.
- Breakeven loot: 50,000 × (2 − 0.50) = 50,000 × 1.50 = 75,000 Koen.
So with a 50% survival rate, you need to extract with at least 75,000 Koen worth of loot just to break even. Anything above that is profit.
Why This Matters for Your Raids
Most players only look at the loot they extract with, ignoring the cost of the gear they lose when they die. This calculator forces you to account for that loss. For example, a player who extracts with 80,000 Koen but dies half the time with a 60,000 Koen loadout is actually losing money: 80,000 − 60,000 − 30,000 = −10,000 Koen per raid. Knowing this helps you decide whether to run cheaper gear, play more cautiously, or only enter high-value maps.
How to Choose Your Inputs
To get a realistic result, you need accurate numbers for each input:
- Loot Value: Use the actual market value from the game’s flea market or trader sell price, not the base price. If you extract with items you plan to use, count their replacement cost.
- Gear Cost: Include everything you bring in. Ammunition is often the most expensive part of a loadout, especially for high-tier weapons. Don’t forget grenades and meds.
- Survival Chance: Check your overall survival rate in your character stats. If you are new, start with 40-50%. If you are experienced and play with a squad, you might be at 60-70%.
Adjust the inputs to match your playstyle. A rat player who avoids fights will have a higher survival chance but lower loot value. A chad player who seeks PvP will have a lower survival chance but higher loot value.
Common Mistakes and Misconceptions
One common mistake is forgetting to include the cost of ammunition. A single magazine of high-tier ammo can cost more than the weapon itself. Another mistake is using the vendor sell price instead of the flea market price for loot. The calculator uses the market value because that is what you could get if you sold the item.
A misconception is that you only lose gear when you die. In reality, you also lose consumables like meds and grenades even if you survive. The calculator handles this by assuming you use up all consumables each raid, which is usually true. If you survive and keep some meds, you can adjust the gear cost downward slightly.
Also, the calculator assumes you never get insurance back. In Arena Breakout, insurance can return some gear, but it is unreliable and often not worth the cost. If you do insure, treat it as a bonus that improves your actual profit, not as part of the base calculation.
Limits of This Calculation
This is a simplified model. It does not account for variable loot values, market price fluctuations, or the fact that you might find better gear in the raid. It also assumes a constant survival rate, but your survival chance changes depending on the map, time of day, and whether you are solo or in a squad. The formula is a planning tool, not a guarantee of actual results.
Another limit is that it treats all loot as liquid Koen. Some items are used for quests or hideout upgrades, so their value to you may be higher than market price. If you need a specific item, it might be worth extracting with it even if it doesn’t meet the breakeven threshold.
How to Improve Your Break Even Point
To become profitable, you have two levers: increase loot value or decrease gear cost. You can also increase survival chance, but that is harder to control. Practical steps include:
- Use cheaper but effective weapons. A well-modded SMG can cost 20,000 Koen and still kill players with headshots.
- Bring only the ammunition you need. Load one magazine with high-tier ammo and the rest with lower tier.
- Learn map extracts and safe routes to avoid unnecessary fights.
- Scavenge for loot in less contested areas instead of rushing to high-value hotspots.
- Use the calculator to test different scenarios before you buy gear.
For example, if you lower your gear cost from 50,000 to 30,000 Koen while keeping a 50% survival chance, your breakeven loot drops from 75,000 to 45,000 Koen. That makes it much easier to profit.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a good survival chance to use?
Look at your character stats in the game. New players often have 30-40%, average players 50%, and skilled players 60-70%. If you play with a coordinated squad, add 10% to your solo rate. Use your actual number, not a guess.
Does insurance affect the break even?
Yes, insurance can reduce your effective gear loss. If you get insurance back on some items, subtract that value from your gear cost. For example, if you insure a 50,000 Koen loadout and get 30% back on death, your expected loss is 50,000 × (1 − 0.30) = 35,000 Koen. The calculator does not include insurance, so treat it as a bonus.
Should I include the value of quest items in loot?
Yes, but only if you plan to sell them or if they are needed for a quest that gives a reward. If you need them for a quest, their value is the reward you get, not the market price. The calculator uses market value, so for quest items you might want to adjust the loot value up or down accordingly.
Why is my profit negative even when I extract with a lot of loot?
Because you are likely spending too much on gear relative to your survival chance. For example, if you bring a 100,000 Koen loadout and die half the time, you need to extract with 150,000 Koen just to break even. Most players extract with less. The solution is to run cheaper gear until your survival chance improves.
Can I use this calculator for any map?
Yes, but the inputs should reflect the map’s loot potential and your survival rate on that map. A map like Farm has lower loot but higher survival, while a map like Armory has high loot but low survival. Adjust the loot value and survival chance accordingly.
