PUBG Mobile Icons & Symbols: Complete Meaning Guide
This guide explains every icon and symbol you will see in PUBG Mobile, from the HUD and minimap to inventory and settings. You will learn what each icon means, how to read them, and how to use them to play better.
HUD Icons: Your On-Screen Interface
The main gameplay screen (HUD) shows your health, ammo, and weapons. The health bar is the green bar at the bottom left; it turns yellow below 50% and red below 25%. Next to it, the ammo counter shows bullets in your magazine / total carried, e.g., 30/120. The weapon icons show your equipped firearms and melee items; tapping them switches weapons. The backpack icon opens your inventory, and the map icon opens the full map. The compass at the top shows your heading in degrees (N=0, E=90, S=180, W=270). The teammate icons (colored squares with numbers) appear at the top left; green means alive, gray means knocked out, and a skull means dead.
Minimap Symbols: Reading the Battlefield
The minimap in the top right corner displays nearby action. Red footprints indicate enemy footsteps within about 50 meters. Red vehicle icons (car, boat, or motorcycle) show enemy vehicles moving nearby. Yellow exclamation marks appear when an enemy is shooting or an explosion occurs. Blue circles are your teammates’ positions. The white circle is the current safe zone, and the blue circle is the play zone that shrinks. A red circle with a skull marks a red zone bomb area. The white arrow at the map edge points toward the next safe zone.
Health and Boost Icons
Your health bar shows current HP (max 100). Below it, boost icons appear when you use energy drinks, painkillers, or adrenaline syringes. The boost bar has four segments: each segment gives a small HP regeneration over time. The icons show: a green syringe for adrenaline, a red can for energy drink, and a white pill for painkiller. When you are downed, a red cross icon appears and you must be revived by a teammate. The vehicle health icon (a car with a wrench) appears when you are inside a vehicle, showing its durability.
Inventory and Loot Icons
In your backpack, icons categorize items. Helmets (levels 1-3) show a helmet silhouette; vests show a bulletproof vest. Weapons are shown by type: assault rifle (AR), submachine gun (SMG), sniper rifle (DMR/SR), shotgun, LMG, and pistol. Attachments have icons for scopes, grips, magazines, and stocks. Consumables: bandages (white roll), first aid kit (green box), med kit (red cross), energy drink (red can), painkiller (white pill), and adrenaline (green syringe). Throwables: grenade (green oval), smoke grenade (grey can), flashbang (white tube), and molotov (brown bottle). The color of loot on the ground also indicates rarity: white (common), green (uncommon), blue (rare), purple (epic), and orange (legendary).
Map and Zone Icons
The full map shows the safe zone as a white circle and the play zone as a blue circle. The red zone is shown as a red circle. The plane icon shows the flight path at the start. The delivery plane icon appears when you call a supply drop (flare gun). The blue zone damage indicator is a blue shield icon that appears when you are outside the safe zone, and the damage per second increases with each phase. The white zone timer is shown above the minimap, counting down to the next shrink.
Settings and Quick Menu Icons
The gear icon opens settings. The quick menu (the speech bubble icon) lets you send quick messages. The microphone icon toggles voice chat. The speaker icon toggles sound. The eye icon toggles first-person view. The lock icon locks your camera angle. The battery icon shows your device’s battery level. The network icon shows ping (green good, yellow medium, red bad). The FPS icon shows frames per second. The record icon starts screen recording.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the red circle with a skull mean?
That is the red zone. A bombing run will occur in that area. You will take damage if you stay inside. Move out of the red circle as soon as you see it on the minimap.
Why do I see a blue shield icon?
That means you are outside the safe zone and taking damage from the blue zone. The damage increases with each phase. Get inside the white circle to stop the damage.
What do the colored teammate icons mean?
Green means your teammate is alive and well. Gray means they are knocked out and need revival. A skull means they are dead and cannot be revived. The number is their player number.
How do I read the compass at the top?
The compass shows your heading in degrees. 0 is north, 90 is east, 180 is south, 270 is west. Use it to give directions to teammates, e.g., “enemy at 270” means west.
What is the difference between a first aid kit and a med kit?
A first aid kit restores 75 HP and takes 6 seconds to use. A med kit restores 100 HP (full) and takes 8 seconds. Both are slower than bandages but heal more. Use them when you are safe.
Why does my weapon icon show a red X?
That means your weapon is out of ammo or broken (if you have a jammed weapon). You need to find more ammo or repair the weapon with a repair kit if it is a special weapon.
